Search for, download, listen, and borrow books; find and discover events here and around Muskegon; browse our local history; find and look through a number of historical and government links, or just get general information about the library. All these can be found by navigating the buttons on the top of the page. Drop in at our historical building in person to browse our collection of books, use the computer lab, or explore the Local History & Genealogy Department at the Torrent House. Feel free to visit our friends website as well at Friends of Hackley Library .

We have openings for substitute circulation clerks in Adult and in Youth Services.  Please see our Employment page for more details.

From the web:
(FYI:People may wonder why some custodians lived at the library. It was because they were needed to keep coal in the furnace to keep the building heated and avoid frozen pipes in the winter time. At one time Hackley Public Library had 7 custodians. They weren't all full time, but they were all available to add coal and keep the HPL boilers running properly. During open hours they also kept the library's fireplaces operating properly. None of the HPL custodians lived in HPL.)
